Reader Sounds Off: Russians in the Oval Office

It is horrifying that the party of Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Dwight Eisenhower, Barry Goldwater and Kevin McCarthy has become so closely tied to the Kremlin. And no, the Trump administration has been anything but transparent about the matter as Tomi Lahren claims in her column, “Give the Russia nonsense a rest.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated under oath that he never talked about campaign-related matters with the Russians. Senior adviser and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has repeatedly failed to properly disclose his meetings. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson violated the Russian sanctions as CEO of Exxon. And Donald Trump Jr. and White House spokesperson Kellyanne Conway claimed that there was never contact with any Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign. Kushner wouldn’t even testify publicly under oath.

The administration has lied time and again, and people like Tomi Lahren are sabotaging the integrity of our democracy and election process by letting them off the hook — only because the person they voted for won.

While Lahren and I are the same age, and I respect a Millennial paying attention to current events, it is time for people like her to put their dislike for the left aside and understand how dangerous this administration is to our democracy and Western world.
